About Me
I have been in private practice for over 25 years in Austin, Texas. I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where I received a Master of Social Work and of Mary Washington University in Virginia and the University of Bath, England for my undergraduate degree in Sociology.
During my graduate studies, I worked as a school social worker at Becker Elementary with AISD and at the South Austin Neighborhood Youth Bureau. As a recipient of a National institute of Mental Health grant I was trained in family therapy at La Clinica de Consulta Familiar in Houston, Texas.
My interest in helping families and children grew through my work with the Texas Youth Commission when counseling adolescent boys incarcerated in the juvenile justice system and through my post-graduate experience with Meridell, Inc., a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents. I am fortunate to have worked and trained with some of Austin’s best psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.
I also value my volunteer work and experience over the years in Austin. I volunteered for many years with Victim Services of the Austin Police Department and am currently trained as a mental health emergency responder for the city of Austin. I participated as an advisory member of the Pilot Parent program through the ARC of Austin. In addition, I participated as an Ad Hoc committee member for the Ad Hoc Committee on Registered Family Home Standards for the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
Aside from my role as a clinical social worker, I am a parent of two adult sons and have been married for over 30 years. I enjoy traveling, hiking, trail running with my dogs and playing soccer.
